🔍 A meeting of the Supervisory Board of Phase III of the EdUP project was held
📆 On January 21, 2026, within the framework of the implementation of Phase III of the project "Public-Private Partnership for improving vocational education in Ukraine" (EdUP), a meeting of the Supervisory Board took place.
🛡️ The event was held at the VET institution "Zaporizhzhia Technological Professional College 'Motorobudivnyk'" (Zaporizhzhia). Last year, thanks to the EdUP project, funds from the Swiss government and private partners, and with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES), a shelter was rebuilt here in compliance with inclusivity standards. Besides its main function, it also serves as a learning space.
Jean-Luc Bernasconi, Director of Cooperation at the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine, and Richard Rose, Regional Director of Swisscontact, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks.
🗺️ During the meeting, Oleksandr Chervak, Executive Director of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine and Chairman of the Business Advisory Board (BAB) of the EdUP project, presented the BAB's priority directions for the first half of 2026, aimed at developing construction industry professions within and with the support of the project.
📌 He emphasized that business plays a key role in modernizing vocational education while facing systemic challenges: "On the path to implementing initiatives aimed at developing vocational education in Ukraine, business faces many obstacles. And this list is no shorter than the list of initiatives. Among the main ones are a high level of uncertainty, a shortage of skilled personnel, as well as an outdated material and technical base in educational institutions and a constant need for consumables."
Yuliia Yepifanova, EdUP Project Manager, presented a detailed report on the project implementation results for July - December 2025, as well as work plans for January - July 2026. She highlighted key achievements and presented strategic directions for the development of vocational education.
📉 Prospects for the development of public-private partnership in Ukraine were outlined by Poshan KC, Country Director of Swisscontact in Ukraine. He emphasized that this mechanism allows combining the resources of the state, business, and educational institutions to achieve the most effective results.
Within the meeting, a representative from vocational (vocational-technical) education institutions was also elected to the Project Supervisory Board for the next reporting period.
The meeting was also attended by:
👤 Iryna Shumik, Director General of the Directorate of Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
👤 Viktor Shutkevych, Deputy Director of Cooperation at the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine.
👤 Omar Kassab, Head of Private Sector Engagement at Swisscontact.
