🏗️ Can a building generate its own energy? Practical solutions for construction projects

On September 8, 2026, the webinar "Solar Power Plant as a Tool for Energy Independence of Construction Projects: Technical Aspects of SES Installation" took place. This event marked the first joint initiative within the framework of cooperation between the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine and the Solar Energy Association of Ukraine.

During the webinar, participants discussed the possibilities of using solar generation in construction projects, current legal frameworks, technical solutions, and the role of solar power plants and energy storage systems in ensuring the energy independence of facilities.

🎤 Opening remarks were delivered by Vladyslav Sokolovskyi, Chairman of the Board of ASEU, partner of the "Sokolovskyi and Partners" law firm, and CBU member, alongside Oleksandr Chervak, CEO of the CBU.

⚖️ The legal instruments for utilizing solar power plants were presented by Ivan Balytskyi, Head of the Legal Committee of ASEU and partner at "Sokolovskyi and Partners." The participants reviewed the mechanisms of self-consumption and self-generation, the status of active consumers, and opportunities for operating in the wholesale electricity market.

Special attention was given to the self-consumption mechanism as one of the most straightforward ways to use solar power plants to meet one's own needs.

🔋 The technical part of the webinar was led by Oleksii Shyshkanov, Head of Alternative Energy at Dolya Solar Energy. He focused on practical aspects of designing and installing solar power plants, as well as the possibilities of combining solar generation with energy storage systems.

📌 During the webinar, it was emphasized that combining solar power plants, energy storage systems, and, if necessary, a generator allows for the creation of more flexible power supply models for construction and commercial facilities.

Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers. Given the significant interest in the topic, the discussion touched upon holding future events dedicated to energy storage systems, their combination with various generating installations, and grid connection specifics.
