🔬It is essential to develop science, seek new advanced technologies, and apply them in Ukraine
The war has caused severe damage to the infrastructure of our cities and communities. To rebuild better than before, science and technology must be developed.
🌐Lev Partskhaladze, President of the CBU, spoke about this during the plenary session at the International Conference on Urban Infrastructure Sustainable Development and Renovation — MistoBUD-2025, organized by O.M. BEKETOV NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF URBAN ECONOMY, a CBU member.
🏗️Approximately 1 billion square meters of housing have been built in Ukraine, 80% of which are outdated. Moreover, compared with Europe, there is about 50 sq.m per person, while in Ukraine, it's only 24 sq.m. At this rate, it would take us 200 years to reach the European level.
💬"We cannot rebuild using old approaches. We need to seek new advanced technologies and apply them in Ukraine to ensure that rebuilt cities are modern, high-quality, energy-efficient, and comfortable," said Mr. Partskhaladze.
In 2023, the Law of Ukraine "On the Provision of Construction Products on the Market" came into effect, implementing EU Regulation 305/2011 regarding the quality of construction products.
💬"Our production already complies with Regulation 305 and meets European standards. This is a significant step toward Ukraine becoming a European country," emphasized Lev Partskhaladze.
Another major issue is the workforce shortage. Currently, 70% of construction industry workers are defending Ukraine on the front line. Moreover, if a person does not work in their profession for two years, they lose their qualification.
🤝Lev Partskhaladze expressed his gratitude to O.M. BEKETOV NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF URBAN ECONOMY for the invitation and their contributions: "I am grateful to your university for its significant role in training the professionals of the future!"
MistoBUD-2025 is a platform for bringing together leading scientists, researchers, and stakeholders from various sectors to exchange experiences, implement innovations, and apply best practices in architecture and urban planning; civil, industrial, and transport infrastructure construction; environmental engineering; project management; and construction expertise.
During the plenary session, participants discussed challenges, achievements, and opportunities for the application of advanced technologies, such as 3D concrete printing, creating an environment of "deep collaboration" in construction projects with planning and control processes, and engineering innovations for sustainable communities to achieve NET ZERO goals. Presentations also covered geotechnical studies in regions with volcanic-origin basalt deposits and processes for enhancing structural integrity for decarbonization in marine environments. Additionally, the results of two pilot projects for residential building restoration in Kryvyi Rih were showcased.
🤝Ihor Biletskyi, Rector of O.M. BEKETOV NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF URBAN ECONOMY, confirmed the university's readiness for continued cooperation and support in matters of science, legislation, and workforce training for the construction industry.
WE WILL WIN AND REBUILD EVERYTHING! 💪
TOGETHER TO VICTORY!
GLORY TO UKRAINE! 💙💛
