🏗️ Reconstruction of Ukraine, human resources, and transparent investments: outcomes of the FIEC Task Force "Ukraine" meeting

🌍 On June 30, 2026, the regular meeting of the Task Force "Ukraine" of the European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC) took place, bringing together representatives of European institutions, the Ukrainian government, businesses, and international organizations. The focus was on practical mechanisms for European companies to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine, the development of digital project management tools, public investment reform, and addressing the labor shortage in the construction sector.

📊 A key part of the meeting was the presentation of the FIEC survey results regarding the participation of European construction companies in Ukraine's reconstruction, delivered by FIEC Director General Domenico Campogrande.

🏢 Special attention was paid to the DREAM digital ecosystem for public investment management, which was presented by the head of the DREAM office, Viktor Nestulia.

👷 Participants also addressed the issue of labor shortages and the development of vocational education. The international initiative Skills4Recovery, presented by Mirjam Zimmermann, became a central element of this discussion.

🏗️ A separate part of the meeting was dedicated to further initiatives in the field of training and skills development for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

🎓 The first project is Erasmus+ DREAMER, proposed by a FIEC member from Ireland. It aims to develop advanced project management training materials for construction, engineering, and business students, with a focus on the context of Ukraine's reconstruction.

🏫 The second project is a potential collaboration with the Belgian development agency Enabel regarding the creation of a Ukrainian vocational training center, a center of excellence, or a "Junior Academy" format for the construction sector.

🤝 Summing up the meeting, participants noted the need to strengthen coordination between Ukrainian and European partners, develop local partnerships between companies, improve financing mechanisms, and expand cooperation in the field of professional education.

🗓️ The next meeting is scheduled for September 1, 2026.
