🚧 The EU opens its doors: the Ukrainian construction sector is being prepared for full integration into the European market
🗓️ On May 19, 2026, a meeting of the FIEC-EIC Task Force "Ukraine" took place, dedicated to Ukraine's progress on its path to joining the European Union (EU), integration into the EU internal market, and the development of the construction and engineering sectors.
During the meeting, Jānis Aizsalnieks, a representative of the European Commission, presented updated information on Ukraine's EU accession process, legislative harmonization, and integration into the internal market of the European Union.
⌛ According to him, in line with the National Reform Plan, Ukraine plans to complete the process of legislative harmonization with the EU by 2029, except for areas where transitional periods may be provided.
Special attention was paid to Ukraine's integration into the EU internal market, particularly in the fields of financial services, energy, transport, and industrial products. It was noted that Ukraine is actively working on joining the SEPA instant payment system, which will significantly speed up transactions and reduce costs for businesses and citizens.
🧮 The process of implementing the provisions of the DCFTA agreement regarding 27 groups of industrial products was also discussed. Currently, three product groups — namely machinery, electromagnetic, and low-voltage products — have been identified as pilot areas.
🏥 Other initiatives aimed at developing the vocational training system and supporting the recovery of Ukraine were also presented. In particular, a project to develop a standard hospital design for the territorial communities of Ukraine was introduced, supported by representatives of the Finnish company IHDA and the Government of Finland. According to him, it is planned to have a completed hospital design by the end of the year, which can be transferred to communities free of charge for construction.
Also participating in the meeting on behalf of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine (CBU) were Anatoliy Berkuta, Vice President of the CBU, Tetiana Horho, Head of the Construction Materials Supply Department at FTP, a member of the CBU Board of Directors, and Oleksandr Kiktenko, Co-owner and CEO of AV.Development Group, a member of the CBU Board of Directors.
