🏗️ The Role of Skilled Trades and Cooperation with CBU in Workforce Development

During the extended meeting of the CBU Board of Directors held on March 18, 2026, as part of Business Day CBU, Olha Khomenko, Deputy Director of the Kyiv Professional College of Construction and Municipal Economy, a company, member of CBU, emphasized the importance of skilled trades in the current context.

🏫 It was noted that the institution, established in 1984, has been training professionals for the construction sector for over 40 years. Despite the rapid development of artificial intelligence, it was highlighted that such technologies cannot replace the reliability of electricians, the craftsmanship of welders, or the professionalism of tilers and plumbers, which remain critical for the industry and the country’s recovery.

🤝 Attention was drawn to the institution’s participation in international initiatives. In particular, with the support of the Skills4Recovery project, training was provided to 90 adults, including 60 welders - a profession identified as highly demanded in the context of Ukraine’s reconstruction.

🧑‍🔧 It was also emphasized that in recent years the institution has significantly advanced its activities, including modernization of training workshops, updating of educational programs, development of adult education, and professional development of teaching staff through engagement in international projects. In the near term, further modernization is planned, including the restoration of electrical workshops supported by a recently awarded grant.

🖇️ It was underlined that joining the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine opens new opportunities for establishing partnerships, strengthening cooperation with the industry, and contributing to the training of qualified specialists needed for the country’s recovery.
