🎓Ukraine’s Construction Industry: Overcoming Staff Shortages and Improving Specialist Training
On June 18, 2026, during the CBU (Confederation of Builders of Ukraine) Business Day, Petro Kulikov—member of the CBU Qualification Commission for the implementation of the "QUALITY MARK" sectoral assessment system, CBU Vice President, Chairman of the Academic Council of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, and Head of the Union of Rectors—highlighted the current challenges facing the construction industry regarding personnel training and adaptation to new technologies and standards.
The CBU "QUALITY MARK" initiative is being implemented in cooperation with the sequa project "Professional Synergy" as part of the хештег#Skills4Recovery initiative.
💬 "I have been working with the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine for a long time and have practical interactions with construction companies, so I know very well—not theoretically, but in practice—what problems currently exist in the construction industry.
Today, we face a very large deficit of personnel—both manual workers and engineering-technical staff. This is an extremely important area for the entire industry. I have also seen that a three-year education development program has been adopted, which is very important, especially for the construction sector.
We all understand that we need to rebuild Ukraine, and in the current conditions, the prospects look challenging. Therefore, personnel training in construction directly depends on the quality of education: the programs used to train specialists and how well they meet the needs of employers.
As for today’s event regarding the 'Quality Mark,' it is a very important step. After all, everyone is interested in a high-quality result", noted Petro Kulikov.
