🛤️ Updated SBС В.2.3-19:2025 “1,520 millimeters Gauge Railways. Design Standards”

🗓️ On January 1, 2026, the new edition of SBС В.2.3-19:2025 “1,520 millimeters Gauge Railways. Design Standards” came into effect, replacing SBС В.2.3-19-2018 “1,520 millimeters Gauge Railways. Design Standards."

🚆 SBС establishes modern requirements for the design of 1,520 millimeters gauge railway infrastructure and defines the basic requirements for the design of new and the reconstruction of existing railway tracks, in particular regarding the track layout and profile, subgrade, superstructure, engineering structures, and other infrastructure elements.

Specifically, the standards:

🔹 systematize the requirements for the design of 1,520 millimeters gauge railway and access tracks;

🔹 specify the technical parameters of track infrastructure components;

🔹 take into account modern approaches to the design and reconstruction of railway infrastructure;

🔹 harmonize the regulatory framework with current standards in the field of transport infrastructure.

What has changed:

🔹 terminology and document structure have been clarified in accordance with the current regulatory framework;

🔹 references to national standards and other regulatory documents have been updated;

🔹 requirements for the design of railway track elements, including track alignment and profile, subgrade, and superstructure, have been clarified;

🔹 approaches to the design of new and the reconstruction of existing railway lines have been improved;

🔹 certain provisions have been brought into line with modern technical solutions in railway infrastructure.

Overall, the changes are aimed at updating and standardizing the design requirements for 1,520 millimeters gauge railways, as well as improving the safety and operational efficiency of the railway infrastructure.
