📆 On 10 February 2026, a meeting was held between a delegation from the Finnish IHDA project and the Deputy Minister of Health - Chief State Sanitary doctor of Ukraine, and coordinator of the project "Strengthening the health care system and preserving life" (HEAL Ukraine) Ihor Kuzin, to discuss approaches to designing modern medical infrastructure and opportunities for international cooperation in the field of restoration and development of healthcare facilities.

 

The Finnish side was represented at the meeting by:

👤 Rami Olavi Kolehmainen, Regional Director - Regional Director - Tampere Business Director, Architectural Design, Granlund.

👤 Anssi Oskari Hakarinne, Director Medical Technology Design, Nordic Healthcare Group.

👤 Henry Pesonen, Director, Nordic Healthcare Group. 

👤 Teuvo Pekka Narinen, CEO, A-INS group.

 

The Confederation of Builders of Ukraine was represented by Oleksandr Chervak, CEO of the CBU.

 

🛡️ During the discussion, the parties focused on issues of medical infrastructure development, taking into account modern requirements for safety, functionality, and resource efficiency. Particular attention was paid to the possibilities of implementing projects for the reuse of buildings and the adaptation of existing facilities to the needs of the healthcare system.

 

Oleksandr Chervak and Henry Pesonen presented the Finnish IHDA project, which aims to develop a basic hospital model that can be reused in different regions of Ukraine. It was noted that the completion of the project design phase is expected by the end of 2026. 

 

📕 Ihor Kuzin provided information on the current state requirements for the planning and operation of hospitals, which are regularly updated and revised to reflect changes in medical approaches, technologies and safety standards. He emphasised the importance of a systematic approach to planning medical infrastructure, taking into account its long-term operation and adaptability to future challenges.

 

The participants paid particular attention to the coordination of international initiatives in the field of medical infrastructure restoration. Mr. Igor presented the project ‘Strengthening the Health System and Saving Lives’ (HEAL Ukraine), which is being implemented by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the World Bank and aims to meet new and urgent health needs. 

 

The parties agreed to maintain further communication, in particular regarding potential areas of cooperation.
