🌐 European Businesses Continue to Consolidate Efforts for Ukraine's Recovery

📅 On June 12, 2025, another meeting of the FIEC-EIC Task Force “Ukraine” was held. Task Force unites the European construction industry for the future recovery of Ukraine.

🔎 The following topics were discussed during the meeting:

🔹 Reconstruction and innovation in residential construction: the “Tiny Homes” model by the Arctic Construction Cluster – Elina Yuriienko.

🔹 Private sector engagement in Ukraine’s recovery: the approach of Gerz Holding – Alisa Rotova.

🔹 Opportunities and challenges of 3D concrete printing in Ukraine – Inna Furman.

🔹 Updates on the special event URC2025 in Rome – “Green Recovery of Ukraine” (July 9, 2025) and the upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference URC2025 (July 10–11, 2025) – Romain Henrard and Pasquale Ialongo.

🔹 National initiatives.

💬 “Ukraine is already a platform for the implementation of advanced solutions. The private sector, local manufacturing, and international partnership are the foundation of sustainable recovery,” noted the meeting participants.

🏘️ Modular Housing: Finnish Initiatives in the City of Vasylkiv

Elina Yuriienko presented the initiative of the Arctic Construction Cluster to build modular wooden houses in Vasylkiv. The first homes are planned to be constructed with the support of a charitable foundation and in cooperation with Finnpartnership. Ukrainian companies are ready to participate in scaling and localizing the project.

🏠 One modular house with full interior equipment (including a kitchen) can be built in one week. The average lifespan of such houses is up to 50 years with proper maintenance. The cost of one house is approximately EUR 60,000.

🔍 The Ukrainian side emphasized the need for deeper production localization: at least six domestic manufacturers are already prepared to contribute to the project’s expansion.

🏗️ Gerz Holding: Private Business as a Driving Force of Recovery

Alisa Rotova presented the company’s experience in attracting private capital to infrastructure and residential projects.

According to updated data, Ukraine’s recovery needs are estimated at over USD 524 billion over the next 10 years. The housing sector remains the most affected: over 2.5 million homes have been damaged or destroyed.

💬 “We see that private business can act flexibly, quickly, and with technological precision. It does not just carry out construction work – it drives the economy,” emphasized the representative of Gerz Holding.

🧱 Ukrainian Innovations: 3D-Printed Housing as a Response to Challenges

Inna Furman presented domestic developments in the field of 3D concrete printing. The showcased technologies allow for the construction of durable monolithic houses with minimal time and resource consumption.

“This solution is not only for Ukraine. It is a technology that can be scaled to other countries experiencing humanitarian or construction crises,” the developers emphasized.

💻 Updates on the Special Event URC2025 in Rome and the Upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference

Participants were also presented with updated information about the special event within the framework of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2025), to be held on July 9, 2025, in Rome. The central theme is “Green Recovery of Ukraine.”

Additionally, updates were shared about the main Ukraine Recovery Conference scheduled for July 10–11.

📍 A broad international presence is expected, with presentations of environmentally oriented solutions and the launch of new projects focused on sustainable development, energy efficiency, and green construction. The FIEC-EIC Task Force “Ukraine” will also take part in the conference, presenting its initiatives.

⚙️ National Initiatives: Bottom-Up Movement

The meeting also highlighted the growing role of national initiatives — from the government, the public sector, and businesses alike.

📍 Representatives of Ukrainian companies and communities shared their experiences of adapting to wartime conditions, implementing new technologies, developing workforce reserve initiatives for the construction sector, and participating in international grant programs. Localization of production, support for national products, and the formation of long-term cooperation are among the top priorities.

📌 All members of the Task Force “Ukraine” agreed that innovation integration, production localization, and active private sector involvement are the foundation of effective and resilient recovery in Ukraine.

Ukraine is already becoming a platform for the implementation of cutting-edge solutions, and international partnerships play a decisive role in creating safe, affordable, and high-quality housing for millions of citizens.
