🏗️ Import and Export Analytics of Construction Materials in the First Half of 2025
Tetiana Horho, Head of Construction Materials Procurement Department at FTP, presented a detailed overview of the export and import of construction materials for the first half of 2025 during the CBU Business Club, held on July 23, 2025.
📊 According to the expert, import and export today are not just figures but an indicator of the industry’s ability to quickly respond to reconstruction challenges and adapt to new conditions.
The Ukrainian construction materials market is actively responding to the challenges of large-scale reconstruction: local production is growing, new logistics routes are being established, and new approaches to import and export are being formed.
The analytics cover six main product categories:
✔️ Articles of cement, concrete, or artificial stone, reinforced or non-reinforced (Code 6810);
✔️ Ready-mixed binders for construction, including additives for cements, mortars, or concretes (Code 3824);
✔️ Panels, boards, tiles, and blocks made of agglomerated vegetable fibers, straw, or wood chips on a mineral basis (Code 6808);
✔️ Articles of gypsum or gypsum-based mixtures, including panels, boards, sheets, and other similar materials (Code 6809);
✔️ Roofing tiles, architectural elements, and other ceramic building products (Code 6905);
✔️ Metal structures of ferrous metals for construction, including bridges, frames, roofs, and other elements (Code 7308).
📈 According to the analysis results:
💠 Ukraine imported significant volumes of cement products, thermal insulation materials, and roofing ceramics. This is due to the absence of serial production of some products in the domestic market. Among the import leaders are Poland, Hungary, and Turkey. Imports of categories such as thermal insulation, dry mixes, and ceramic products remain strategically important for promptly meeting construction needs, especially in war-damaged regions.
💠 Exports of dry mixes, metal structures, and gypsum products showed stable dynamics, indicating the competitiveness of Ukrainian manufacturers. The main export destinations were Moldova and EU countries, demonstrating the trust of international partners.
💡 Despite the increase in import volumes, domestic production currently covers only 7.4 million tons out of an approximate demand of 35 million tons, indicating significant potential for the development of Ukrainian enterprises.
💬 “When I researched these indicators, I was struck by the volume of our exports. These are significant funds for the budget and the economy, which is very important for future reconstruction.
The reconstruction of Ukraine is a marathon, not a sprint, so I am confident that in the next half-year, export figures will be quite high; perhaps there will be growth,” emphasized Tetiana Horho.
The expert also stressed that FTP, as an analytical and logistics partner of the construction industry, helps identify trends, plan procurement, find reliable partners, and strengthen the positions of Ukrainian business—both domestically and internationally.
