🌿Oleksandr Chervak, executive director of the CBU, took part in the forum dedicated to EU Directive 2024/1275 (the new version of EU Directive 2010/31), which took place on July 2, 2024.

The event was held by the Housing and Municipal Reform Support Centre together with European colleagues within the framework of the EPBD.wise project funded by the European Union.

The event was moderated by Volodymyr Shimkin, President of the Housing and Municipal Reform Support Centre, and Viktoria Pogorelova, consultant of the GIZ Project "“Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine”.

The participants discussed the new requirements for the implementation of the Directive, the positive experience of European countries and Ukraine, the prospects for the development of policies and specific instruments for the implementation of the Directive.

📜The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EU/2024/1275) should help to reconstruct buildings that do not meet the principles of energy efficiency. The Directive also aims to support better air quality, digitize energy systems for buildings and deploy infrastructure for sustainable mobility.

In particular, Pau GARCIA AUDI presented the building renovation passport. This tool should facilitate the collection, analysis of information and tracking of building renovation processes.

🔢 Artur Obidnyk noted that work is ongoing on the creation of a national database of energy and operational characteristics of buildings. In addition to being one of the requirements of the Directive, such a database will also allow the collection of building data for further work on the thermal modernization strategy.

🔋Ima Khrenova-Shymkina presented the work of GIZ in Ukraine. She emphasized the importance of experienced specialists in order to modernize buildings and implement energy efficiency. That is why GIZ works with universities and other educational institutions.

👤"Now a lot of companies are partially destroyed or need relocation. We started a grant program. If you are already recovering, then you need to become energy efficient. If relocation is necessary, then we also need to become better," Ima Khrenova-Shymkina said.

Participants paid considerable attention to the issues of NZEB (near-zero energy buildings) and ZEB (zero energy buildings). The National Action Plan for Energy Efficiency for the period up to 2030 provides that from 2026 it will be prohibited to build state-financed facilities with an energy efficiency class lower than NZEB.

👤Members of the Board of Directors of the CBU also took part in the forum: Gennadiy Farenyuk, Director of the State Enterprise "State Research Institute of Building Constructions, and Olena Dmitrieva, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Globus Bank.

Energy efficiency is one of the key approaches in European construction. Ukraine, as a candidate for EU membership, should also study and use European experience, work on the regulatory framework and implement energy-efficient approaches.
