📍 The construction market is growing, but remains under the pressure of war, staff shortages, and high costs: key takeaways of H1 2026

On August 5, 2026, the analytical panel "Construction and Real Estate Market Analytics of H1 2026" brought together leading market experts. The event took place ahead of the official part of the anniversary reception dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the CBU and Builder's Day, bringing together leading market experts.

The analytical panel was moderated by Denys Verhun, Editor-in-Chief of SPEKA.

🗨️ "We see that for the development of the industry, not only demand and construction opportunities are important, but also the actual presence of people who can implement these projects," Denys Verhun noted.

Yaroslav Kulikovskyi, Senior Analyst at Pro-Consulting, presented an up-to-date overview of Ukraine's construction market for H1 2026.

The staffing of the industry was the focus of a presentation by Tetiana Sytnyk, Head of B2B and Strategic Research at CBR, who presented the results of a study on the demand for blue-collar professions in construction.

⚖️ Another important factor for the development of the construction market remains the availability of housing financing. Olena Dmitriieva, First Deputy Chairperson of the Management Board of Globus Bank and Member of the CBU Board of Directors, presented analytics of Ukraine's mortgage market for H1 2026.

🏠 Yaroslav Horbushko, Director of the Capital Markets Department at EXPANDIA and a CBU member, presented analytics on office and warehouse real estate for H1 2026.

🧾 High demand for commercial real estate and construction activity are also reflected in related markets. In particular, Vadym Rybachuk, Executive Director of Vartis and Member of the CBU Board of Directors, presented analytics on the state of the rolled metal market for H1 2026.

The analytical panel demonstrated that despite the full-scale war, the construction industry continues to operate and adapt. At the same time, key challenges remain the security situation, a shortage of qualified personnel, the lag of vocational education behind modern technologies, limited market mortgages, and rising construction costs.
