🏗️ The rolled metal market in Ukraine demonstrated positive dynamics in the first half of 2026. After a weaker start to the year, demand significantly intensified in the second quarter, making it possible to compensate for the lag of the first quarter. Vadym Rybachuk, Executive Director of Vartis and member of the Board of Directors of the CBU (Confederation of Builders of Ukraine), spoke about the state of the rolled metal market for the first half of 2026 during the analytical panel "Analytics of the Construction and Real Estate Market for the First Half of 2026", organized by the CBU.

📉 In the first quarter of 2026, demand dropped by up to 30% compared to the same period last year. The main reasons for this were: power outages, cold weather, and delays in state funding, resulting in low activity.

At the same time, the situation changed significantly already in the second quarter: sales increased by 15–20%, which allowed compensating for the lag at the beginning of the year. The main drivers of growth were orders for the construction of protective structures, restoration of destroyed infrastructure, production of metal structures, and the recovery of commercial demand in the construction industry, primarily in the western regions. Additionally, demand from retail buyers increased.

📍 According to the results of the first half of 2026, consumption of rolled metal in Ukraine increased by 5% compared to the same period last year — up to 1.7 million tons.

The consumption of rebar grew the most — by 25%, structural steel — by 15%, and hot-rolled steel — by 10%. At the same time, the consumption of cold-rolled steel, wire rod, and certain types of long steel products decreased.

🗨️ "In the first half of 2026, rolled metal consumption in Ukraine grew by 5% — to 1.7 million tons", noted Vadym Rybachuk.

🌐 Meanwhile, the market is characterized by a record share of imported products — 40%. Turkey and China remain the main suppliers.
Thus, the dynamics of the rolled metal market in the first half of 2026 largely reflect the activity of the construction sector, restoration needs, and the gradual recovery of commercial demand.
