👷 The working group and experts discussed the results of the assessment of labour functions and tasks for the professional activity of Concrete Worker

📆 On 6 November 2025, a round table “Analysis of the results of expert assessment of labour functions and labour tasks for the professional activity of a concrete worker” was held. The event became another stage in the process of developing the professional standard “Concrete Worker”.

👥 The round table brought together representatives of construction companies, educational and research institutions, vocational education providers, as well as sectoral experts. During the meeting, the participants discussed the results of the expert assessment, summarised proposals to improve the content of labour functions and tasks, and defined the next steps.

During the discussion, participants also stressed the importance of differentiating competencies between the professions of concrete worker and rebar worker, and clarified work tasks taking into account the experts’ proposals.

Following the meeting, the working group approved the labour functions for the professional activity of a concrete worker, namely:
🔹 Installation and dismantling of formwork.
🔹 Formation of reinforcement cages.
🔹 Preparation of concrete/mortar mix.
🔹 Placement and compaction of concrete/mortar mix.
🔹 Curing of concrete.
🔹 Repair of concrete parts of structures,
and also agreed on the work tasks that specify each labour function and serve as the basis for defining professional competencies and learning outcomes.

💬 “We are working to ensure that the content of the professional standard ‘Concrete Worker’ reflects real production processes in the modern construction sector. It is important that every competence meets today’s requirements – from production digitalisation to enhanced safety standards,” noted Svitlana Kravets, Head of the Centre for Modern Professions and Training Technologies at the Institute of Vocational Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.

🔧 Based on the results of the round table, the participants agreed on proposals for further work on creating a modern, practice-oriented document that will serve as a foundation for shaping training programmes, upskilling workers, and strengthening the link between education and industry.
