🤝What are the prospects for cooperation between the Polish and Ukrainian construction markets?

Currently, we are witnessing a second wave of interest from foreign partners in doing business in Ukraine and opening production facilities here. At the same time, several challenges are slowing down this process — in particular, complex logistics, the need to adapt to the specifics of the Ukrainian market, and most importantly, the ongoing war.

This was stated by Lev Partskhaladze, President of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine, during the III INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION: CONSTRUCTION POLAND – UKRAINE, organized by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (Polska Agencja Inwestycji i Handlu, PAIH) and the Polish Association of Construction Employers (Polski Związek Pracodawców Budownictwa - PZPB).

🤝Lev Partskhaladze delivered a welcome speech, expressing gratitude to Poland and the Polish people for their continuous support: “For us, as representatives of Ukraine's construction industry, it is a great honor and an excellent opportunity to strengthen our cooperation. Today, we stand at the threshold of a new era in our relations. Joint projects, investments, and the exchange of experience offer a chance to strengthen our economies and create comfortable living conditions for our citizens.”

The President of the CBU also participated in a discussion dedicated to the resources of the Polish construction market and the interest of Polish and Ukrainian companies in cooperation.

He drew attention to the labor shortage in Ukraine. Currently, according to him, about 70% of construction professionals are on the front line. Given that the war has been ongoing for the fourth year, the issue of loss of qualifications among workers who have not practiced their profession for more than two years is becoming increasingly relevant.

🎓One possible solution he mentioned is the launch of short-term training programs for veterans, allowing them to acquire common and in-demand construction specialties.

Separately, the President of the CBU reminded Polish partners about the attractive conditions for the development of industrial parks in Ukraine, including exemption from VAT and duties on imported equipment, profit tax benefits, compensation for connecting to utility networks, and more.

🤝According to him, these tools can serve as a significant incentive for Polish companies interested in cooperation and production localization in Ukraine.

The participants discussed the cooperation potential in the field of logistics, as Poland will become an important logistics hub for Ukraine’s reconstruction. They also examined Ukraine's readiness to implement technical, material, and financial standards in accordance with EU regulations, and analyzed the advantages and risks of doing business in Ukraine.
