🗺️Partnership for Progress: Data-Driven Transit-Oriented Development with Flou

At the forum “Modern Finnish Technologies, Equipment, and Experience – for Ukraine's Reconstruction,” Taina Haapamäki, Managing Director of FLOU ltd., a strategic partner of the event, presented innovative approaches to urban environment and transport infrastructure planning.

Flou is a leading independent consulting company founded in 2016 in Helsinki, Finland.

🚊The company specializes in transport system planning and risk management for large infrastructure projects. Its experts provide consulting services to cities and government authorities on strategic development, impact analysis, roadmap development, cost-benefit evaluation, and foresight studies, enabling project teams to monitor key indicators from the very beginning of implementation.

Using projects in Helsinki as examples, Taina Haapamäki shared the company’s practical experience. One case involved the development of a tram network: Flou conducted transport flow modeling to identify optimal zones for a new route, taking into account traffic loads, potential changes, and benefits for residents of various neighborhoods. Another study focused on assessing the economic consequences of closing key metro stations — thanks to precise calculations, it was possible to justify accelerating construction work to minimize losses.
