🌊Building the Future: Solutions for Sustainable Water Infrastructure
This topic was in the spotlight during the FIEC General Assembly held on May 16, 2025. Oleksandr Chervak, CEO of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine, took part in the event on behalf of the CBU.
Participants discussed the current areas of FIEC's work, including the latest updates on analytical materials in the fields of environmental issues, social policy, technical regulation, project implementation, and housing policy.
🌃Special attention was given to the issue of the housing crisis in the European Union. Four key groups of factors influencing housing costs at the EU, national, and local levels were presented: regulatory aspects, financial instruments, the situation in the construction sector, and zoning and permitting procedures. In this context, FIEC emphasizes the importance of harmonizing European legislation, developing innovation in construction, supporting skilled labor, and ensuring transparency in financing.
A separate item on the agenda was the discussion of the recently adopted Omnibus Package on Sustainability Reporting — a pragmatic package of simplifications designed to strengthen the EU's leadership in corporate sustainability without undermining business competitiveness. In particular, the document provides for the harmonization of approaches to sustainable finance, simplification of reporting requirements, and limitation of excessive pressure on small and medium-sized businesses.
During the meeting, a new FIEC First Vice President was also elected — Jean-Pierre Paseri.
🤝Oleksandr Chervak expressed his gratitude to FIEC for its active position and constant support of Ukraine, particularly within the work of the Task Force “Ukraine.”
🏗️He informed his European colleagues about the “Architectural Navigator” initiative launched by the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine together with PRAGMATIKA.MEDIA.
This is a catalog of typical social infrastructure designs. The purpose of the Architectural Navigator is to ensure fast, high-quality, and cost-effective construction based on modern, scalable designs.

🌐Participants were also informed about upcoming initiatives, in particular the special event “The Green Reconstruction of Ukraine”, which will take place on July 9, ahead of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025. The event will focus on discussing challenges, opportunities, and real examples of sustainable recovery of Ukraine within the context of the European Green Deal.
