🏢What can businesses do to support communities during wartime?

Today, corporate responsibility and sustainable development hold special significance. In times of war, this is not just a strategic task but also our shared duty. Corporate responsibility includes a willingness to invest in communities and support state initiatives.

👤 This was highlighted by Oleksandr Chervak, CEO of the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine (CBU), during the webinar “Business Social Selfie: A meeting on sustainable development with ESG managers from the business sector,” organized by Crowe Mikhailenko and the Social Consulting “Paragraf”.

The recovery of Ukraine after Victory is impossible without the active participation of communities, which serve as the foundation for development. Communities know their territory’s needs, priorities, and resources best. They have the capacity to create projects that truly serve the people. Moreover, recovery projects unite the community and assist internally displaced persons.

❔So how can businesses help communities? This can include financial participation: from investing in individual projects to creating corporate funds; material support: providing construction materials, equipment, or organizing logistics; or expert support.

🤝 For example, members of the CBU provide materials, assist with the rehabilitation of military personnel, offer legal support, volunteer, fundraise for drones, provide psychological assistance, educate students, and help improve qualifications, among other activities.

Another effective solution is the development of typical designs that communities can adapt to their specific needs. This approach saves both time and money.

☝️Mr. Chervak outlined the opportunities for businesses to support state initiatives. These opportunities offer several advantages, including a strategic approach, the ability to unite various stakeholders (communities, businesses, international partners) and coordinate their actions, as well as scalability in both territorial and temporal dimensions.

The webinar also featured representatives from other industries who shared their experiences:

👤Andrii Nohin, CEO and General Producer at UnitedContentHUB and F Films, and Head of the NGO "UKRKINOFEST," shared his personal experience of implementing social initiatives in the creative entrepreneurship sector.
