👥About the state of Ukraine's energy industry and the strengthening of energy independence from the first hands

Oleksandr Chervak, CEO of CBU, joined the forum "Energy of business: a push into the future", organized by Forbes Ukraine.

👥Forbes Ukraine gathered representatives of regulators, heads of the largest state and private energy companies for an annual event to discuss the main question: how can Ukraine achieve energy independence?

💡As part of the first block of the event, the participants discussed the real state of Ukraine's energy sector and its impact on the economic sector.

In particular, the speakers were:

🔸German Galushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine

🔸Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director of the Energy Industry Research Center

🔸Nataliya Boyko, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine on Energy, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine

🔸Oleksiy Chernyshov, CEO of Naftogaz Group

🔸Oleksiy Brecht, acting Head of the board of Ukrenergo

Experts talked about the strategies and plans of the biggest players in the energy market. What critical needs and threats do they see and what they plan to do in the coming months.

👤So, Oleksiy Blinov, Head of the Analytics and Research Department of Forbes Ukraine, presented "Forbes Research and How the Energy Crisis Affects the Country: An Economist's View."

According to the research, currently 88% of business representatives in Ukraine are ready for power outages, 83% are developing a plan in case of long-term power outages. At the same time, only 37% of companies are able to independently provide power to the enterprise for 24 or more hours.

In addition, experts reported that the share of renewable sources of electricity (RES) in electricity generation in the first half of 2024 reached 10%. During martial law, three new wind power plants with a total capacity of 229 MW were put into operation.

Regarding foreign investments, experts said that 8 of the 20 largest Ukrainian renewable energy companies are foreign investors, which account for 45% of capacity (a manufacturing industry with one of the highest levels of foreign capital penetration).

The top 20 market players lost 0.9 GW of capacity due to occupation (20%). All assets of 2 more foreign investors (Vindkraft, Emergy) remained in the occupied territories.

During the second block of the event, big business, banks, and city mayors, who, despite everything, remain with the electricity, presented opportunities for increasing and protecting energy independence.

Speakers of the panel were:

🔸Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Economy of Ukraine

🔸Maxim Sheremet, Operations Director "Epicenter"

🔸Volodymyr Popereshnyuk, Co-founder of the NOVA group of companies ("Nova Poshta")

🔸Natalia Pokinska, General Director of "Kronospan UA"

🔸Anastasiia Vereshchynska, Director of the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency

🔸representatives of the banking sector

👤Yuliia Svyrydenko spoke about state aid to business: how much and to whom the Government is ready to provide aid to strengthen energy independence.

Yuliia Svyrydenko noted the conditions of preferential lending for businesses and utility companies, in particular, priority financing under the "5-7-9 Affordable Loans" program. Thus, the state provides up to UAH 150 million for up to 10 years at 5-9% per annum for power generation.

Also, the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine spoke about preferential loans for condominiums under the "Affordable loans 5-7-9" program, according to which up to UAH 5 million is provided at 7% per annum. She reminded that within the framework of the "GreenDIM" program, compensation of 70% of the cost of equipment and materials is provided for after the installation of heat pumps and solar power plants.

Yuliia Svyrydenko presented her own offers of preferential lending from Ukrainian banks and reported on a number of tools introduced by the Government of Ukraine, in particular:

💠cancellation of customs duties and import VAT on energy equipment;

💠simplification of procedures for setting up own generation;

💠simplification of energy equipment procurement procedures;

💠special conditions for those who provide themselves with their own generation by 80%+;

💠"Active Consumer" program;

💠 import of electricity from the EU.
