🏗 Demonstration of Remote Operation of Construction Machinery
On October 9, 2025, a demonstration of Japanese–Ukrainian remote-operation technology for construction machinery took place in Kyiv. The event was organized within the joint initiative of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine and Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) — the Japan–Ukraine Platform for Infrastructure Technology for Recovery and Reconstruction (JUPITeR).
🎯 Main goal: to support Ukraine’s rapid recovery using Japanese information and communication technology (ICT)-based remote-operation solutions for construction machinery. These solutions helped participants understand how the technology can address operator shortages, improve safety, and promote social inclusion.
From the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine (CBU), the event was attended by CBU General Director Oleksandr Chervak.
👥 Participants included representatives of the Governments of Ukraine and Japan, business, and academia:
• Maryna Denysiuk, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine
• Masashi Nakagome, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine
• Masaru Kojima, Vice-Minister for International Affairs, MLIT
• Oleksandr Petroshchuk, Director, Department of Investment Policy, Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine
• Anatolii Melnychenko, Rector, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI)
• Kenichiro Tachi, Director (International Cooperation & Infrastructure Planning), MLIT
• Akira Yamamoto, President, Kobelco Construction Machinery
• Makoto Kato, Managing Director and Director of Sales & Marketing, Kobelco Construction Machinery Europe B.V.
• Shinya Hyakutake, Vice President, Soliton Systems
• Kerim Sare, Global Business Manager, Soliton Systems
• Yuliia Skichko, Owner, LLC “VBK ELIT-PROEKTBUD” (TM “ALEF STROY”), member of the CBU Board of Directors
• Koji Yamashita, Executive General Director, Kobelco Construction Machinery
Yuliia Skichko, Owner of LLC “VBK ELIT-PROEKTBUD” (TM “ALEF STROY”), delivered a talk titled “Women’s Participation in the Construction Industry and Expectations for Remote-Construction Technologies.”
💬 “Modern technologies help overcome gender bias and open new opportunities for women to participate in the country’s recovery. We created the first school in Ukraine for women construction-equipment operators, and today dozens of graduates operate machinery on real sites, changing perceptions of the profession. We are preparing a new training wave, and it would be extremely valuable to train new cadres in remote operation of construction machinery from the outset,” Ms. Skichko emphasized.
During the demonstration, participants could not only learn about the principles of remote operation but also personally test the system, confirming that the future of construction lies in technologies that make the process safer, smarter, and more accessible to everyone.
This event marked another step in strengthening the Ukraine–Japan partnership in technology-driven recovery. The focus remains on the practical application of innovations that can significantly enhance construction-site safety, optimize resources, and create new opportunities to involve specialists of different profiles in the country’s reconstruction.
WE WILL WIN AND REBUILD EVERYTHING! 💪
TOGETHER TOWARD VICTORY!
GLORY TO UKRAINE! 💙💛
