🛤️ New SBС В.2.3-20:2025 "Railways of 1435 millimeters gauge. Design standards"!

🗓️ On January 1, 2026, SBС В.2.3-20:2025 "Railways of 1435 millimeters gauge. Design standards" came into force, systematically regulating the design of European-standard railway infrastructure in Ukraine for the first time.

📑 The document establishes requirements for the design of new 1435 millimeters gauge railway lines, additional tracks, reconstruction and major overhaul of existing infrastructure, as well as dual-gauge tracks of 1435 millimeters and 1520 millimeters.

🔎 The SBС covers the comprehensive design of railway infrastructure, in particular:

🔹 track plan and longitudinal profile, subgrade, and track superstructure;

🔹 design of bridges, tunnels, stations, junctions, and passing loops;
🔹 engineering systems: electrification, power supply, water supply, and drainage;
🔹 signaling, interlocking, communication, and automated control systems;

🔹 fire safety and environmental protection requirements.

🚄 The norms provide for the design of railways with passenger train speeds of up to 200 km/h and take into account the development of high-speed and suburban connections.

⚙️ The document also defines approaches to the categorization of railway lines depending on traffic intensity and establishes requirements for their carrying capacity, reliability, and operational safety.

📌 The adoption of SBС В.2.3-20:2025 is an important step towards integrating the Ukrainian railway infrastructure into the European transport system and implementing modern design standards.
